Does anyone else have a problem with NFL players wearing pink? It's not that I mind the color, although I do think it clashes with my Bears' Orange and Navy Blue. My problem is that Breast Cancer Awareness and Breast Cancer Research Fundraising is really.....fundraising for the pharmaceutical industry!!
From the article, Where the Money Goes: A Breast Cancer Donation Guide, on Health.com: .....Where the money goes at Susan G. Komen: "It's spent on education, fund-raising, treatment, and screening, as well as research"
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, says: "a minimum of 85 cents goes to research and awareness programs"
Gateway for Cancer Research Breast Cancer Charity: "99 percent goes to research"
The bottom line here is that "education" is simply selling the unsuccessful treatment approach of conventional burn, poison and cut. Fundraising is generally lining the pockets of the pharmaceutical industry, because the only research that matters is that which can lead to drug sales. When was the last time YOU heard a Cancer organization promote anything other than test, burn, poison, cut? The general population has become smarter than this and they want better options.
The long sought Silver Bullet Drug for the war on cancer has never been found and it never will. Cancer, like all chronic degenerative diseases, is multifactorial. Cancer has multiple causes, and a deficiency in pink wardrobe items is not one of them.
The causes for cancer include:
- Genetic Weaknesses (or polymorphisms) which cause errant biochemical functioning. This can contribute to many 'downstream' effect, including, improper cellular division, increased need for specific enzyme cofactors (specific vitamins & minerals), and the build up of internally produced metabolites (internal toxins).
- Lifestyle Choices - good choices, with regard to diet, exercise, sleep and stress management, can often greatly delay the negative effects of genetic weaknesses. Poor lifestyle choices can accelerate genetic weaknesses, as well as, create biochemical malfunctioning where there were no genetic weaknesses. The worst offenders are smoking (everyone knows this one, but did you know that smoked and charbroiled meats are cancer causing too?), sugar and refined flour products, chronic stress, and a lack of exercise.
- Environmental Toxins - each of us has approximately 200 causing chemicals in our bodies. This is also the case for each newborn baby in the US. We are all fighting a battle: our biochemisry VS. environmental pollutants (flame retardants in clothes, blankets and furniture, BPA and other hormone disrupting chemicals in plastics, heavy metals from industrial waste, break dust and the disposal of batteries and fluorescent light bulbs, etc, etc)
- Nutritional Deficiencies - in our Land of Plenty there is an abundance of high calorie foods with little to no nutritional value. For your body, this is "biochemical debt". You are causing your body to do things (create energy, regulate blood sugar, detoxify metabolic waste), but you are not giving the body the biochemical nuts and bolts to do the job. In short, you are robbing from your future. In addition to refined foods, alcohol, caffeine and pharmaceuticals all cause nutrient deficiencies.
So if you are looking for a cure for cancer, or you are looking to prevent cancer, don't be mesmerized by the men in pink. Instead, look to those who can see that the Emperor is wearing no clothes!
