Detoxification is an opportunity to break negative habits, identify trouble foods and help your body rid itself of the toxins that rob your energy and vitality.
A detoxification program often results in a reduction of aches and pains, skin conditions and digestive symptoms, as well as, an elevation of the mood. Some of the medical benefits are a reduction in cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure, regulation of the immune system and improvement in cellular energy.
I do customized detoxification programs for the bold and daring, newbies and those with medical concerns. In-office visits are not necessary, I can do appointments, including a thorough health assessment, over the phone.
Here are my Detox Tips for the impatient and self-starters:
- Don't get constipated! During a detox the most important issue is going to the bathroom (very p.c.) 3-4 times per day. If toxins can not be removed through the colon, you will not have a comfortable (or effective) detox. In fact, most store bought detox kits are simply a fiber pill and a laxative pill. Unfortunately, if you don't know how to dose these for your individual body, they can do more harm than good.
- Support your detox with a MEDICAL FOOD PROTEIN POWDER. This is not your store bought protein powder. This is a non-allergenic protein powder formulated with multiple nutrients to support CELLULAR DETOXIFICATION. This medical food taken 1-3 times per day allows you to cut back on your food intake, or even stop altogether, without catabolizing your own muscle or sacrificing the effectiveness of your detox.
- Exercise! It is best not to over do it during a detox, but enough daily exercise to break a sweat is a huge detox accelerator. Not only do you circulate your lymphatic system, the most important waste disposal and immune center in your body, you also move toxins right out with your sweat.
- Breathe! Exercise and deep breathing remove more toxins from the body than any other organ. The lungs are an amazing detox organ! In fact, we consume more minerals and detox more toxins through our lungs than we do through our digestive tracts. Crazy but true.
There is more to a great detox, but this can get you started on the right foot.
